When it comes to seeking out storage, go high whenever you can.
Although you might not have much floor space, there is usually plenty of vertical space.
To organize closets and living spaces, all that is needed is a basic set of brackets and a piece of plywood. To conceal winter clothing, unused toys, and visitor linens, add adorable boxes and baskets.

Can’t go high? Go low!
Especially when it comes to bedroom organization ideas, one of the simplest solutions for home organization is to add storage under your furniture.
However, the clear plastic bins you can purchase at Target or The Container Store aren't the only option for under-the-bed storage (although those are great options if you want to keep things hidden). Try cool woven containers or wood crates instead of clear plastic bins to improve the aesthetics; you won't even need to tuck them away.

Take advantage of that wall space.
This one really appeals to me! Instead of occupying space in your closet or on the floor, hang some of your favorite things on the walls. For items like all those straw hats you "accidentally" purchased this summer, A Pair & A Spare has a straightforward DIY hanging project that works great.
OR use my homemade hanger organizer to arrange hanging items neatly and in a row. Do not like? How about these easy-to-make wall hooks? They resemble wooden wall-mounted bubbles. And personally, I'm really into that.
Not quite right yet? What about this canvas hanging wall organizer? Both tough and adorable! Plus, you can use it in so many different ways – in your office or craft space to organize supplies, in an entryway for mail and keys, even in your closet for shoes and accessories.

Head over the bed.
The headboards and art take up most of the space above the bed, but what about shelving? Or perhaps a headboard that doubles as shelving?
Make a stylish headboard like these eye-catching floor to ceiling built-ins to keep all of your bedtime reading more organized. So lovely, no? I also adore the color.

Maximize unexpected spaces.
The side of the refrigerator and the back of the door are two of the most frequently disregarded locations for extra storage. In these areas, adding hanging shelves, towel racks, etc. can help reduce clutter, especially in the smallest spaces. (Image courtesy of Burke Decor)
They actually produce some really attractive options these days. It's a magnetic kitchen rack, for instance, like the one in the picture.
-
Mix hidden storage with open storage.
To conceal the necessary items without losing character in your space, try combining open shelving with doors for storage. For this one, perhaps start with an Jaxpety hack.
-
Check behind the mirror.
I'm not referring to the outdated medicine cabinets that our parents still possess (although they are perfect for hoarding those skin products I only use once a blue moon).
There are so many contemporary bathroom storage options, like this sliding storage mirror, that can keep your vanity clean and well-organized. If you feel like doing some DIY, I bet you could even make your own now.
-
Stick with small footprints.
If you must utilize some of that limited floor space, make it as compact and tall as you can.
The use of blanket ladders, like this one from Homey Oh My, has increased over time.
Why have blanket ladders become so common? They don't take up much space, and they're a great way to show off your favorite textiles, so I'm guessing that's why. They're also a good way to deal with the clothes that end up on the bedroom floor because they're neither dirty enough for the wash nor clean enough for the closet.

Work in dual-purpose furniture whenever possible.
A stylish storage bench like this one from Avenue Lifestyle can replace conventional seating. There is plenty of space for anything you want to stow away, as well as a sweet spot to sit and read or nap.
